Dark Moon in Taurus

Study for the Head of the Gorgon, by Giuliani Ariste Sartorio.

Lady Moon wanes Balsamic. In Taurus, she softens in Her exaltation. Her dark, old velvet days are those of surrender, shedding, and envisioning. Her darkest face is without artifice. No stolen light deceives our sight.

This lunar cycle whispers to us to seek voluptuous rest and slumber beneath a quieted Venusian Moon.

Though the New Moon will rise in Gemini on Monday, let La Lune now be a sweet prelude to Venus entering Taurus, releasing her from Aries, where she limps through the final embattled degrees.

Venus is Creatrix in all her 12 Faces, and a Venus of Blood and Fire is awe-inspiring indeed. Her courage is greatly needed in the world. But at some point the She-Wolf must lay down her weapons and allow Venus as Gaia to heal Her battle wounds.

When Mars grabbed the reins from Jupiter in the skies, we knew well that rage and violence can be the Shadow of the noble Warrior. The harvests of Mars can be acute, highlighting the devastating inadequacies of machismo and might when they prevail over true Strength and Courage. Exposing a lack of wisdom and maturity - culturally, collectively, individually. The thunderous hooves of Mars conjunct Jupiter in Aries reveal to us how we destroy and liberate equally. Now the flames of truth and fury grow brighter and more fierce.

But in these weary Moon days, we can choose to return to our primordial touchstone of the Moon’s cycles.

Our creaturely birthright.

Lay down upon the Earth. Let your Warrior heart be held tenderly by the mycelial matrix. Receive the Earth’s heart-pulse. Release and surrender your blood and tears and bone-deep sorrows to Her.
