Full Moon in Gemini: Muddles & Misinformation

Centaurs Fight the Lapiths, 1500-15, by Piero di Cosimo.

FULL MOON IN GEMINI @ 4°51': 27 NOV, 8:16 PM AEDT | 27 NOV, 10:16 PM NZDT | 27 NOV, 10:16 AM CET | 27 NOV, 1:16 AM PT | 27 NOV, 4:16 AM ET

Features: T-square between Sun conjunct Mars opposite Moon, squaring Saturn. Mercury in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces.

Themes: muddles & misinformation, contentious debate & dogma, the limits of compassion. Sudden illumination or perspective granted - a wider view of a problem.

With a final sting in the anaretic tail of the Scorpion, a new-born Mars with deadly martial stealth, (still invisibly cloaked by the Sun’s rays) - has entered Sagittarius.

With a stellium of Sol, Mercury & Mars all in the Archer we’re in Sag Season proper, & hurtling towards a sociable yet jangly Full Moon. This lunation will be at 4° of Gemini on Monday, November 27 (AEDT); & it’s ruled by a debilitated Mercury in Sag, hosted by a blindfolded, backwards plodding Jupiter in Taurus.

The fiery realm of sky-god Jupiter is our wildest sign, & Sag is our feral philosopher. Expansive, versatile & enthusiastic. Sag wisdom can also be far-seeing, channelling Jup’s broad-minded blessings. Sag territory is at its best when instinctive & tolerant rather than preachy or self-righteous. The visionary power of Sag is inspiring, but its Shadow tends towards a bombastic recklessness. There’s also the tendency as a Jupiter-ruled sign to fudge details in favour of a wider ethos or vision. Not necessarily a bad thing, but something to take care with in regards to the conditions imbuing this Full Moon.

The spirit of adventurousness that Sag embodies during our Holiday Season colours our days with optimism. Sagittarius has a louche & lusty impulse toward freedom. And being a double-bodied sign - part centaur, part human - Sag embodies a wild, questing wisdom of both flesh & spirit. Sag’s infectious Bacchanalian joviality can have us carpe-ing the diem out of life, & revelling in its fleeting joys. As Buzz Lightyear (ever a Sag if there was one) would declare, “To infinity & beyond!”

Except…for Saturn.

From the moment of their arrival in Sag, planets are being churned through the Saturn ringer, squeezed & dampened by a harsh square from Kronos in at 0° of Pisces.

The Sun & Mars are in a tight square with Saturn, reaching peak intensity on Sunday (26 November AEDT). It’s a major theme for this FM, as this aspect will be reactivated by the ripening Moon in those early degrees of Gemini.

In fact, we’ll have a tense t-square between the Sun & Mars in Sag, opposite the Moon in the Twins, & all three squaring Saturn in Pisces. This makes for a dash of salt & vinegar at the party. Feisty & ribald celebrations that can turn into prickly disputes.

With a debilitated Mercury ruling the Full Moon, squaring Neptune, & blind to host Jupiter, things can get muddled and messy.

We may well see an increase in a chaotic stream of dis/misinformation, confusion, & aggressively dogmatic debates. There may also be more impulsive conclusions drawn that exacerbate divisions. During Sag Season in general there’s an emphasis on questions surrounding the nature of truth, & with there Mars in the mix, the quest for truth(s) could get heated & contentious.

With this Full Moon, things may not be as they seem, and we’d be wise to check over any info carefully rather than hastily jump to conclusions. The limits of our compassion may be tested, but the Full Moon may illuminate the source of the stickiness as we realise how out-of-hand the cacophony has become. Saturn in Pisces is warning us of compassion fatigue, the limits of empathy, & desensitisation. Saturn may initially dampen the spirits, but it’s also giving us pause to examine our beliefs & test the endurance & malleability of truth.

As the Moon fattens in Gemini & delirium peaks, you may see the online world spilling out over the edges. Behaviour & relating to one another that’s been shaped by years of social media engagement may bleed over into our real-world interactions during the holiday period.

Amidst the jumble we may want to step back a little, & check our responses. Particularly around those who might be getting fired up for debate as a blood sport, or as a will to power. Are we able to seek the wider view & push back against what’s become the status-quo? Can we seek out true connection with differences rather than constant connectivity?

As we move through the weekend with an exalted Moon gentled in Taurus, (cuddling up to Jupiter, & ruled by a glowing Venus in Libra for added blessings), it might be wise to slow down if possible. Rootle down into Gaia’s green medicine.

These are good days for mundane activities that support the conditions of our material, embodied well-being. For instance, meal planning & prepping your favourite foods for the week ahead, (particularly if we may feel the pressure during the week). Also Taurean strength & endurance body movement such as lifting weights can be a supportive & a constructive expression of energy.

Stopping to smell the roses this weekend can offer potent replenishment amidst these spicy transits. Jupiter rx in Taurus is trying to show us how.

Jupiter is our moral compass - desiring unity, peace, stability & compassion; but in Taurus He’s in hidden from the Sagittarian sightline. Jup as host can’t quite help those planets in Sag access His qualities so readily. Planets in Sagittarius will thus be inclined to (re)act more than usual on blind faith. With Mars in the mix, our belief systems & ideas regarding truth could get inflamed.

This prickliness is just for a few days during the FM period. It can feel as though you’re in information overload or getting lost in too many words & (zealous) ideas all at once.

Perspective can be gained by consciously stepping back from the hyper-fray, & not reacting too quickly. Also check the details of any deals carefully for flim-flam or scams.

Calming, nerve-soothing herbs such as lavender and milky oats are beautiful herbs of Gemini. These can be helpful for nervous systems feeling wired & tired from heightened Gemini energy, (insert obvious disclaimers regarding medical advice). So too milk-of-your-choice & honey baths, (if you haven’t tried this before, it’s the nectar of the gods).

Stay curious & playful. Gemini knows how to not take itself too seriously.

The Mars-Saturn square will continue into the final days of November, whilst the Sun-Mars conjunction runs through into mid-December. We’re being prepped for a Jupiter renaissance story yet to unfold…

In the mean time, wishing you a safe & happy Full Moon my friends. May your days be blessed.
