Astrology and Trauma.

Cosmic Energy, by Remedios Varo.

Many of us are straining under the dead-weight of exhaustion and trauma.

As a collective, we’re developing an awareness and language around trauma; and recognising the inherently traumatising nature of many of our crumbling systems.

Oh, and the Science Gods recently declared that HSP’s and empaths are real. Thanks for validating us Science. We couldn’t exist without you.

If I waited for empiricism to validate my life and experience, I’d be out of a vocation.

One of the reasons I practice astrology is that whilst it looks to our gifts, to uncovering the hidden treasure we each possess; it doesn’t trivialise, bypass or diminish our difficult experiences.

Astrology is a living language of mnemonics and poesis. The mirror and the mask. There’s a place for trauma in this living language.

My role as an astrologer is to look for the pattern in the weave. This is why I share the time-space weather, not the News.

The on-going horror of the news cycle warps and obscures the true pattern beneath the apocalyptic yammering. Therein dwells an irrepressible mycelium of love, kindness, and life itself.

It doesn’t diminish what’s happening in the world. It doesn’t mean ignoring the urgency and the suffering of others. On the contrary, the practice of astrology requires us to lean into the fullness of human experience.

Sure - astrology can be fun. There’s a place for memes, dopamine hits, and escapism.

But at its best, astrology is a compassionate cosmology. An ancient language of the natural world expressed through the stars, seasons, elements, and all of life. The songlines of a storied cosmos, unfurling polyphonically over thousands of years.

In watching the dance of the stars, there’s an abiding with what makes us tenderly human (more than human too). We can embrace joy and hope, whilst acknowledging pain and loss.

the music and poetry of the stars is the loom upon which we’re woven - our bodies, our dreams, fears, loves, and sorrows.

We’re expressions of a divine alchemy of astonishing beauty, creativity, and love.

As Above, so Below.
